I'm leaving on three jetplanes and coming home

Well, I guess my exchange here is finally coming to an end. 4 and a half months here seems pretty surreal. The last two weeks really opened my eyes to the American culture when I stayed at Jeanne's Uncle and his family's house. I got to do two presentations about Singapore to Jeanne's cousins Alyssa and Alex's classes in their elementary school. The kids had some good questions about Singapore and I'm glad that I shared with them a part of my culture and identity. I also got to watch Prince Caspian last night at the local movie theatre, a kids soccer game (Alex was playing in it), went to US ex-president Harry Truman's museum in Independence, Missouri, and visited a Mormon visitor centre there as well (Mormonism can be considered one of the few religions which can truly be called "American"). I also did some gardening at Jeanne's Korean/Japanese grandmother's house and that was pretty satisfying. I experienced Memorial Day here. In short, I'm proud to say that I lived the American life.

So now I am at the Kansas City airport, waiting to board my flight. I am so not looking forward to the long flight back. I hope I survive it...
