Why I love the French

This was how my latest conversation with Mademoiselle Cécile went:

On work
the lone hertz (aka moi) says: i am tired of this semester alr...too much work...4 more weeks until the exams...
chouchille (aka elle) says: singapore people!! u all work too much...but u hve to
Moi: haha...true...last week i read on the newspapers here that the govt is going to define ppl who have full-time jobs to be working at least 35 hrs per week...i laughed out loud at that...coz i was thinking in spore 35hrs is min and in france it's almost the opposite..
Elle: hihihihihihiih (Cécile ’s unique of laughing out loud) that's right...almost everybody...yes that's funny or sad....that we r so lazy
Moi: it's sad that it's funny...and we work too hard..
Elle: oh yes!!! and can't enjoy life

On being contented with one’s self-image, conversation starters and my crackpot theories
Moi: yeah...sun tan lotion is seldom popular here...sun block lotion and whitening cream is very popular..
Elle: hihihihi
Moi: haha...we are always not contented with being ourselves..
Elle: that's funny...no never 100% happy
Moi: white people want to be darker and dark people want to be whiter...
Elle: i think we all have a big prob!!
Moi: people in america think it's cool to have black hair and people in asia think it's cool to have blond hair...i dunno what people in france think abt hair colour..
Elle: not blond hair...actually we don't really care as long as it's not red hair
Moi: haha...oh yes...why is red hair so bad? i never understood it..
Elle: but a lot of joke are about blond hair girls...red hair....it depends of people sometimes it's really cute but sometimes the color is really ugly
Moi: i think it's an interesting conversation starter...unlike in asia...we have to find more things to start a conversation...although some indians have brown eyes too...maybe that's why asians are more reserved...haha...one of my funny theories...rmb my nose theory? (Note: My nose theory states that because Caucasians have sharper noses the cold winter air is less likely to enter their nostrils, which are smaller and facing down. Hence their noses are less likely to freeze up in winter compared to Asians who have flatter noses with rounder nostrils and facing directly towards the chilly wind. I came up with it while walking with Cécile and Eveline back to our dorm from watching a gymnastics competition during one extremely cold winter night in which my nose became so frozen that I couldn’t breathe through it for 15mins.)
Elle: oh yes i remember
Moi: well i still think it's true..
Elle: it was so funny!! yes it can be...that' s right when u think abt it
Moi: but then my theory was blasted by Yuko...her nose is flat too but she dosen't feel the same effects as i did...because japan is also temperate..
Elle: hihihi...that' s so funny i'm laughing alone in my room
Moi: i can imagine...well i'm glad that i can make someone laugh from so far away..
Elle: yes u do
Moi: i tend to say funny things when i am stressed or cold or hungry or angry...right now i am stressed plus hungry...i am trying very hard not to look at the chocolate bar at the top of my desk...
Elle: oh so hard when so close...

On fast food and why the French have none
Elle: oh yes in france it's (Macs) only during the week end that it's 24H...everything to become fat like many american people
Moi: haha...why are there so few french food places ard the world? oh i rmb...because french ppl take ages to prepare a meal! So no fast food..
Elle: because real french food is not in fast food...yes!!!!
