For those who were unaware, photojournalist Steve McCurry was in town recently.
Best known for his photo of the Afghan girl which appeared on the cover page of National Geographic, McCurry was in town to share what it's like to be a world-famous photojournalist. And you can almost hear everyone in the audience gasped when he announced the title of this post. It's like breaking the number 1 law in photojournalism. I didn't find him all that inspiring though. I mean, his pictures are great but somehow he gave me the impression that he's not that into photojournalism. Last year in Mizzou I met Joel Sartore, an ex-Nat Geo photographer. Compared to Sartore, McCurry seemed almost jaded from being a photojournalist. Or maybe it's the jet-lag. Whatever it is, he's certainly no James Natchwey.
