Where the sun rises

I recently went to help out with a group of my CS friends who were involved in a competition to hold a documentary screening in our sch. And the movie they chose is called "Where the sun rises", directed by ex-CNBC Singaporean reporter-turned filmmaker Grace Phan. The movie sets in East Timor, and narrates through it's current Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao, who was also the first President of East Timor. But the documentary is not about East Timor, and neither is it about Xanana Gusmao. It's about learning how to forgive. And I thought it was a universal value that everyone can relate to. Here's the first part of it on YouTube:

If you have the time, watch the entire thing. It's worth the time.

Makes me think of how so many of us Singaporeans are so unaware of these things that are happening so close to home. We complain so much, are quick-tempered and slow to forgive. Let's take a leaf from Mr. Gusmao.

On another note, the wheels are finally in motion for my internship application for next semester. I won't say much yet, as things are still at the infant stages. But if I do end up getting what I want, then I'm off to another adventure and I can say that I am living the life I choose to live.
