Today during French class:
My french teacher: pas question? (no questions?)
Student: Qu'est-ce que Maroc? (What is Maroc?)
French teacher points to the top of the African continent on a world map. (Maroc is actually Morocco in french, a former french colony in North Africa)
Student: Where? I cannot see!
Teacher: la! (there!)
Student: Where??? (stands up to get a better look)
Teacher: LA! (THERE!) (stabs at the map vigorously)
Student: Wah, that's so small!
Teacher: OI! You don't get to say another country is small when you are living in a smaller country yourself! Only other people get to say that!
Sigh. Yes, madame. We are very small and merci beaucoup pour reminding us that.
But the Vatican City is the smallest country in the world. So we get to laugh at them. HA!
